　　1、中國菜(cuisine)是中國各地區、各民族各種菜肴的統稱，也指發源于中國的烹飪方式。中國菜歷史悠久, 流派(genre)眾多，主要代表菜系有“八大菜系”。每一菜系因氣候、地理、歷史、烹飪技巧和生活方式的差異而風格各異。中國菜的調料(seasoning)豐富多樣，調料的不同是形成地方特色菜的主要原因之一。中國菜強調色、香、味俱佳，味是菜肴的靈魂。中國飲食文化博大精深，作為世界三大菜系之一的中國菜，在海內外享有盛譽。

　　1.第一句話的漢語由兩個分句組成，句子較長，在譯成英文時，可把它拆分成兩句。“也指發源于中國的烹飪方式”可單獨譯成一句also refers to cooking styles originating fromChina，這樣可以更好的體現兩句的并列關系。

　　2.第二句話由三個分句組成。翻譯時將“中國菜流派眾多”譯為主句，“歷史悠久”用with a history of...來表達，“主要代表菜系有…”則用非限制性定語從句表示。這樣可以使譯文結構緊湊，句式多樣。

　　2、皇帝是中國封建社會(feudal society)最高統治者。秦王贏政統一中國之后，稱自己為皇帝。自此，中國開始了長達2132年的皇帝統治時期。到1912年中國最后一個皇帝溥儀退位，中國歷史上共有495位皇帝。皇帝一人掌握國家政策制定、軍事決策等全部大權，決定著國家和人民的命運。中國歷史上有許多英明的皇帝，他們勤政愛民，制定了許多合理的政策，促進了經濟和社會的發展。還有一些殘暴無能的皇帝，他們帶給了人民無盡的災難，受到人民的激烈反抗。

　　4.“皇帝一人掌握…國家和人民的命運”一句偏長，可拆譯成兩個句子。后半句“決定著國家和人民的命運”翻譯時增譯主語“皇帝一人”，雖然原文說的是“一個人”，但由于歷朝歷代都有很多皇帝，因此要處理成復數：theywere the only ones，后面再加who引導的定語從句。

　　5.最后一句中的“他們帶給…”譯為who引導的定語從句，指代前面的emperors，使譯文避免了代詞的重復，也使譯文的句式更加多樣化。
