Much meaning can be conveyed, clearly, with our eyes, so it is often said that eyes can speak.

Looking too long at someone may seem to be rude and aggressive. But things are different when it comes to stare at the opposite sex. 正常情況下，兩人交談時，目光接觸能傳達這樣的意思：說者偶爾看看聽者，以此確認聽著是否在認真傾聽。而對于聽者來說，他會一直看著說話的人，以此告訴他，自己正專心致志的聽著。
假如與你說話的那個人直直的盯著你，好像要鎮住你似的，你便會感到惶恐不安。一般地，說謊者往往就是看別人的時間過長，而令人起疑。因為他們以為直視別人的眼睛是誠實溝通的表現，結果恰恰相反。
實際上，長時間的相互凝視僅適合情人之間，他們喜歡溫柔的對視，用目光來傳達言語無法表達的愛意。
顯然，目光交流應該根據雙方的關系和特定場合來進行。
