陳豪在北京的ABC美國公司工作，他興沖沖地打電話給美國同事Amy。
A：Good Afternoon, this is Amy.
C：你好，Amy, 我是陳豪，你現(xiàn)在有幾分鐘的時間嗎？
A：Yes. I was just about to start a new project, but it can wait.
C：我有好消息告訴你。
A：What is it?
C：我升職了，要到銷售部去。
A：Oh, Thats wonderful. Tell me about it.
C：我的上司覺得我到公司以來，社交能力大有長進，所以決定把我調(diào)到銷售部去。
A：How do you feel about that?
C：當(dāng)然高興了，不過也有點緊張。
A：I agree that it is always a bit scary when you start a totally new job, working with people and processes that you dont know.
C：Amy, 我想一上來就讓他們對我刮目相看，你能不能告訴我，應(yīng)該怎么做啊？
A：First of all, I would be careful about how Id impress them.
C：你這話是什么意思啊？我得讓他們看看，我非常了解銷售部的作業(yè)流程。這樣他們才會覺得我是合適的人選。
A：My advice to you is to go slowly at first. Understand that there may be people in that department who think they should have gotten the job instead of you.
C：對呀，那我怎么做才既能讓別人覺得我確實很有能力，又不得罪人呢？
A：Ask intelligent questions about projects and processes. Let your co-workers share their knowledge and experience with you.
C：可如果我問一大堆問題，別人會不會覺得我不勝任呢？
A：Not at all. Listening to other people is the best way to learn what you dont know and how to do your job well. The other benefit is that you will get to know your colleagues.
C：好了，我不能再耽誤你時間了，過幾天有問題我再來向你咨詢。
A：That sounds good.
兩天后，陳豪Amy一起吃午飯。
A：How do you like your new job?
C：挺好的，我適應(yīng)得很快。同事們也都很幫忙。
A：Im glad to hear that you are getting off to such a good start.
C：但是也有一、兩個人，讓我覺得有些不自在。
A：Whats going on with them?
C：他們好像是故意的.，沒完沒了地給我講辦公室的各種小道消息。我真不知道拿他們怎么辦好。
A：The best way to deal with those people is to tell them that you feel you need to spend your time learning your job.
C：如果他們不聽勸告呢？
A：As we Americans say, "Let it go in one ear and out the other."
C：好主意！我們中國人也說一個耳朵進，一個耳朵出。

Colleague A: My name is Wang Liang. I'm from Beijing. Where do you come from?
同事甲：我叫王靚。來自北京。你是哪里的？
Colleague B: I come from the city of Tangshan in Hebei province.
同事乙：我來自河北省唐山市。
Colleague A: You're from Tangshan? I can't believe my ears! I was also born in Tangshan, but I was brought up in Beijing.
同事甲：你是唐山人？我真不敢相信我的耳朵！我也是在唐山出生的，不過是在北京長大的'。
Colleague B: Really? It's nice to meet you. How long have you been with this company?
同事乙：真的啊？見到你真高興。你在這公司干多久了？
Colleague A: Just over 4 years now. Since this is your first day here, I'm sure you don't really know too much yet. Let me showyou around. so you can introduce yourself to everyone.
同事甲：剛過四年。因為今天是你第一天在這里上班，我想你對這里肯定還不是太熟。我?guī)е闼奶幙纯矗@樣你就可以介紹一下自己給大家認(rèn)識認(rèn)識。
