《牛津英語詞典》新詞歸納2017
《牛津英語詞典》被稱為The World's Most Trusted Dictionary. 每個季度或是年底，它都會公布一些時髦的英語新詞!來看看它最近放出了哪些新詞吧：
TBH, not everyone will be bovvered by all of the 1,000 new words added to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) in its latest quarterly update, which reveals current trends in the use of language.
在最近的季度更新里，牛津英語詞典收錄了1000個新詞。老實(shí)說，不是每個人都會在意這些新詞，但它們反映了當(dāng)前語言運(yùn)用的趨勢。

Entries include air-punching - the action of thrusting a clenched fist into the air in elation or triumph - and bovver - part of the catchphrase of comedian Catherine Tate’s teenage character Lauren.
新詞條包括air-punching(向空中揮拳，指的是在興高采烈或取得成功的時候向空氣中揮舞一下握緊的拳頭這個動作)和bovver(喜劇演員凱瑟琳·泰特主演的凱特秀里的一個青少年角色勞倫的口頭禪)。
注：bovver這個詞其實(shí)是凱特琳獨(dú)創(chuàng)的bothered的變形，當(dāng)她覺得煩了怒了囧了，就會說“Am I bovvered?”、"Do I look bovvered?"
A number of internet slang acronyms such as ICYMI (in case you missed it), TBH (to be honest), and FWIW (for what it’s worth) also make the list.

Budgie smugglers, an Australian term used to refer to close-fitting swimming trunks, are featured in the update, along with Scandi crime thrillers and wild swimming.
用來表示緊身泳褲的一個澳大利亞術(shù)語Budgie smugglers(品牌俗稱“鸚鵡”的三角泳褲)、Scandi crime thrillers (斯堪的納維亞犯罪驚悚片)以及wild swimming(野外游泳)也出現(xiàn)在更新詞匯中。
The phrase “taking candy from a baby”, in which one exploits an easy opportunity, is included as well as “sister from another mister” - a term for a very close female friend.

Other entries include fro-yo, the short form for frozen yoghurt, dudettes - the female form of dude - and agender for designating people who do not identify themselves as a particular gender.
其他詞條有“fro-yo”、“dudettes”以及“agender”，這三個詞分別為冷凍酸奶的縮寫、哥們兒的女性版本(姐們兒)以及特指那些認(rèn)為自己不屬于某一特定性別的人(無性別者)。
Starter marriages are short-lived first marriages, often in preparation for something more long-term, while stupid o’clock is a time outside one’s normal waking life.
“Starter marriage”指的是短暫的初婚，這條短語經(jīng)常用來表示人們?yōu)榱艘院蟾L久的婚姻而權(quán)當(dāng)試驗(yàn)的婚姻，而“stupid o’clock”指的是一個人正常清醒狀態(tài)以外的時間(愚蠢的時間)。
Among the initialisms are a range of different ways to indicate that you’re about to be AFK (away from the keyboard) but hope to return shortly, including BRB ‘be right back’, TTYL ‘talk to you later’, ltr or l8r ‘later’, SYS (‘see you soon’), and GTG (‘got to go’).

There are also various ways to indicate either that you’re ‘just kidding’ (JK) or that someone else has (deliberately or unwittingly) managed to get you ROFL (‘rolling on the floor laughing’), including LMAO (‘laughing my ass off’) and the more emphatic (and profane) LMFAO.
